West Point, NY – Host Army (11-5) took two of three in doubles play before securing all six of the singles points in blanking Wagner (3-5) on Friday evening at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
The tandem of sophomore
Fidan Khalilzade and
Samantha Lugtu earned their first win of the season, defeating Gloria Son and Abi Waldman, 7-6, in No. 2 doubles action.
Lugtu fought a hard battle in the No. 4 singles against Waldman; taking the first set 7-5 before dropping the second, 6-4. In the third and deciding set, both competitors rallied back and forth throughout, with Waldman edging out Lugtu, 18-16, in securing the win.
The Seahawks will resume play on Saturday afternoon, as they square off against the Quinnipiac University Bobcats from the Lichtenberg Tennis Center on the campus of Army West Point.
