Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College men's basketball team will look to snap a two-game losing streak by returning to the friendly confines of the Spiro Sports Center to host Northeast Conference (NEC)-leading Saint Francis U on Thursday, February 28 in a 6:00 p.m. tip that will be televised nationally on the CBS Sports Network.

The Seahawks and the Red Flash are meeting for the 74th time and Wagner holds a 37-36 all-time, lead, which includes this season's 83-79 road win back on January 24. Jonathan Norfleet were not enough as the Wagner men's basketball team suffered a 74-66 defeat in its final regular season road contest at Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday afternoon. Despite the setback, the Seahawks qualified for this year's Northeast Conference (NEC) tournament and are in a two-way tie for fifth place with an even 8-8 conference mark with two games to play.The Knights, who were led by Darnell Edge's 22 points, improve to 15-13 overall and 10-6 in league play. Jackson's career-high 22 points off the bench all came in the second half on 8-of-12 shooting, including four makes from downtown as Norfleet, the second Seahawk in double figures, also set a career mark with 16 points.. Trailing 31-25 at the half, Jackson rattled off a series of three-pointers and scored 16 of Wagner's first 18 points in the second half in an attempt to fuel a comeback, but his three-pointer with 15:29 to play to make it 42-36 was the closest the Seahawks would get as the Knights pulled away for the victory. AJ Sumbry added six boards and five points on the afternoon. The Knights had the advantage on the glass, out-rebounding Wagner 30-27 on the afternoon while shooting 51.3% from the field and 53.3% from beyond the arc, while holding the Seahawks to 38.9% accuracy from the floor.
Saint Francis U Last Time Out
Senior Jamaal King scored 23 points while celebrating his senior day but it wasn't enough as Saint Francis U saw its eight-game win streak snapped in a 69-66 loss to the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds (13-15, 7-9 NEC). Saint Francis trailed by six at the half, 38-32. Every time the Red Flash pulled within one possession, the Blackbirds answered with a three-pointer. Saint Francis tied the score at 48-48 on a layup by sophomore Mark Flagg at 12:21 of the second half but it was followed by a three from Ty Flowers. The red Flash trailed 68-61 with under three minutes to play before senior Keith Braxton cut it to four with a three-pointer. An offensive rebound and putback from Flagg made it a two-point game with 19 seconds left. Saint Francis fouled Flowers with 10 seconds remaining. He made the first free throw and missed the second but King couldn't get off a game-tying three and was called for a travel to end the game. Saint Francis played with better energy in the second half but was undone by the shooting disparity from three-point range. The Blackbirds made 5-of-11 three-pointers in the half while SFU connected on just 1-of-8. Saint Francis finished the game 24-of-61 (39.3%) from the field while the Blackbirds made 25-of-53 (47.2%). The Red Flash hit 3-of-16 (12.5%) three-pointers while LIU Brooklyn connected on 10-of-26 (38.5%). Saint Francis was aggressive in getting to the free throw line but made just 15-of-22 (68.2%). The Blackbirds finished the game 9-of-15 (60.0%).

Jonathan Norfleet, who hit for 22 and 16 points, respectively. All 22 of Jackson's points came during the second half against the Knights. After seeing just two minutes of playing time in the opening half after picking up two fouls and going 0-of-1 from the floor, Jackson's 22-point second-half explosion came during a 17-minute stint where he was 8-of-12 (75 percent) from the field.

Northeast Conference Launches New Branding Initiative
The NEC launched its "All In, Ball Out" branding campaign at the league's "Social" Media Day in Brooklyn on Oct. 24, 2018. The campaign is meant to capture the essence and attitude of the NEC's basketball-centric nature, and convey a host of traits common to its student-athletes, teams and the Conference itself. A series of hoops theme nights were announced to take place during league play and enhance the fan experience through coordinated marketing efforts within the conference. The theme nights are NECNewYear (Jan. 3 & 5), MLK Day (Jan. 21) and Love & NEC Basketball (Feb. 14 & 16).
6-7 Forward Darion Jordan-Thomas Signs Letter of Intent
During the early signing period back in November, 6'7" Massachusetts forward Darion Jordan-Thomas from Woodstock Academy (CT) signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his academic and athletic career at Wagner College. Jordan-Thomas, who scored more than 1,600 career points in his high school career, was a standout at Proctor Academy in Andover, NH, before electing to spend a prep school year at Woodstock Academy. Wagner Picked Fourth in NEC Preseason Poll
The Northeast Conference (NEC) preseason coaches' poll was announced on October 24 at the league's Social Media Day at Barclays Center, and the defending regular season champion Wagner men's basketball team was predicted to finish fourth by the coaches for the upcoming 2018-19 season. Saint Francis U was tabbed the preseason favorite, securing eight first-place votes. Fairleigh Dickinson was predicted to finish second while defending league champion LIU Brooklyn was picked third, with both the Knights and Blackbirds securing one first-place preseason vote apiece. Wagner checked in at fourth, Robert Morris was chosen fifth, with Central Connecticut and St. Francis Brooklyn taking the sixth and seventh spots, respectively. Bryant (8th), Sacred Heart (9th) and Mount St. Mary's round out the 10-team poll.
