Johnson City, TN – The Wagner College baseball team dropped game one of Sunday's series finale at East Tennessee State, 7-1, at Thomas Stadium.

Wagner was led by junior DH Freddy Sabido and senior 1B Will Johnson, who each went 2-for-3 in the opener with Sabido scoring Wagner's lone run of the contest. Senior CF Joe Silvestrone went 1-for-3 in the contest.

East Tennessee State scored the game's first run in the bottom of the second on a RBI double off-the-bat of Ethan Shelton, which scored Cade Gilbert, who led off the frame with a single.

The Buccaneers scored again in the bottom of the third to take a 2-0 lead. Ethan Cady led off with a single before stealing second and moved to third on an infield hit from Colby Emmertz. Shelton was hit by a pitch by Wagner starter, Eric Ligda. The Bucs run came as Ligda's pitch went awry, allowing Cady to cross the plate.

Wagner was able to cut the deficit in half, 2-1, in the top of the fourth. With two outs, Sabido singled to left and came around to score as Johnson singled and moved to second on a fielding error by Shelton. ETSU responded in the bottom half of the frame, tacking on two more runs, in upping its lead to 4-1, as back-to-back home runs from Cullen Smith and Jackson Greer gave the home team a three-run lead.

The Bucs score three more runs between the fifth and sixth innings in taking a 7-1 lead, which they wouldn't relinquish. Markell Graham sent a sacrifice fly to left that scored Gilbert and in the bottom of the sixth, Gilbert doubled to left center scoring a pair.

Ligda took the loss after tossing 4.0 innings and striking out three batters while walking one and giving up four earned runs. ETSU's Landon Knack earned the win, throwing six innings of five-hit ball while striking out eight Seahawks.
