New Haven, CT – Three Seahawks scored in double figures, led by senior forward
Jordan Hobson but it wasn't enough to combat Yale's 33-point third quarter as Wagner dropped its non-conference finale, 87-68, on Tuesday afternoon.
Hobson netted a team-high 16 points on 6-of-15 shooting from the field while hitting four three-pointers in 31 minutes of action. The Richmond, CA native came within one rebound of recording her first career double-double, as she finished with a team-best nine rebounds.
Redshirt senior guard,
Janelle Mullen, poured in 14 points on an efficient 6-of-10 shooting from the floor in her 23 minutes of action. The Ozone Park, NY native also grabbed four caroms, dished out two assists and swiped two steals for the Seahawks.
Sophomore forward
Emilija Krista Grava was the third Seahawk in double-digits, netting 11 points in 19 minutes while battling foul trouble.
The Bulldogs had four players finish in double figures, led by Ellen Marie Andrews, who led all scorers with a game-high 22 points in 28 minutes of action. She also grabbed tied for a team-high with six rebounds.
Roxy Barahman (16 pts, 4 rebs, 3 assists), Alex Cade (12 pts, 4 rebs), and Kiara Astrom (11 pts, 2 assists) combined to go 15-of-23 from the field with Barahman going 7-of-10 from the floor.

How It Happened:
First Quarter
- Yale jumped out to an early 8-2 lead after Tori Andrew converted on a jumper.
- Wagner answered with back-to-back baskets from Krista Grava that made it 8-6 in favor of the Bulldogs before Yale doubled the scored at 12-6 on a Megan Gorman jumper.
- At the 2:26 mark of the quarter, Ellen Marie Andrews made a three and Alex Cade followed with a mid-range jumper that made it 22-16 before the visitors responded with back-to-back three-pointers, from Hobson that tied the game at 22 before Yale's Camilla Emsbo ended the frame with a layup in the paint.
- For the stanza, the Seahawks shot 50.0 percent from the field (9-of-18) while hitting on 3-of-6 from long range.
Second Quarter
- Yale built a six-point lead, 29-23, following a layup from Tori Andrew at the 7:41 mark.
- Over the next 4:14, Wagner found themselves trailing but just three, 39-36, after Mullen converted on a three-pointer that made in 39-35 at the 3:11 mark and newcomer Katrice Jackson hitting one-of-two from the free-throw line that saw Wagner trail by three.
- Both teams struggled from that point in converting a field goal, but the Bulldogs did hit on a pair of freebies with just seven seconds showing on the clock in taking a 41-36 into the break.
Third Quarter
- When play resumed for the second half, Yale opened with a three from Andrews that was quickly answered by Hobson as the Bulldogs led 43-39.
- Barahman rattled off the next five points for the home team, extending the lead to nine, 48-39, and forcing Wagner to call for time.
- A turnover on the Seahawks, Andrews hit from the outside that increased the Yale advantage to 12, 51-39 before freshman Alex Cowan rattled in two in the paint over a pair of Bulldog defenders.
- Yale strung together a 9-2 run over a three-minute span in taking a 61-43 lead with 4:20 left in the third quarter before Krista Grava's jump capped the run and made it 61-45.
- The Bulldogs scored ten of the quarter's final 19 points in claiming a 20-point advantage, 74-54, heading into the final frame.
Fourth Quarter
- Yale took its largest lead of the contest just forty seconds into the period, as Astrom hit from the outside that increased the Bulldog lead to 77-54.
- The Seahawks spun an 8-2 run over the next two minutes that trimmed the deficit to 15, 79-64, with 5:21 left in the ballgame but it would be closest they would get as the Bulldogs scored four of the final six points of the game in securing the 19-point victory.
Inside The Numbers
- The 33-points that Wagner allowed to Yale in the third quarter of today's contest is a season-high for the Seahawks, who previously allowed 25 points to Saint Peter's back on November 13.
- Junior Khaleah Edwards saw her seven-game streak of scoring in double-figures snapped (finished with five points on 2-of-7 shooting from the field).
- The 40 total rebounds are the second-most the Seahawks have accumulated this season, behind the 54-carom performance against Saint Peter's back on November 13.
- It also marked the first time since the November 30 home contest against Staten Island that the Green & White out-rebounded an opponent, holding a slim 40-39 advantage against the Bulldogs, who came in averaging 38.4 rebounds a contest.
