Brookville, NY – The Wagner College women's field hockey team dropped a tightly contested 2-1 Northeast Conference (NEC) decision at the LIU Sharks on Friday afternoon.
The Sharks (4-5; 1-0 NEC) got on the board five minutes into the opening quarter as Taylor Brodsky was able to tap in the feed from Alexis Ruiz as LIU took the early lead.
The Seahawks (1-7; 0-2 NEC) had several chances in the opening frame, as they were awarded five penalty corners but couldn't find the tying-score after the first quarter.
Both teams were held without a shot in the second quarter as the Sharks entered the break ahead by one.
Two minutes into the third quarter, the Sharks added its second score of the match as Kaitlyn Olton was scored off the pass from Jonna Klein-Holte.

Kira Mordvinov netted the lone Seahawk goal as she scored on the pass from former LIU transfer,
Elena Andreyev.
In goal,
Annabel Zandvoort and
Justine van Spengler split time as both combined for three saves on the afternoon. The Seahawks were outshot, 9-5.
The Seahawks will be back in action on Sunday, in Providence, RI against the Bryant Bulldogs at noon. The game will be played on the campus of Brown University and will be available for streaming on NEC Front Row.
