Brookville, NY – The Wagner College field hockey continues Northeast Conference (NEC) play this weekend, as they will travel to Brookville, NY to tangle with the Long Island University Sharks.
LAST TIME OUT FOR WAGNER...
In the league opener for the Green & White against Rider back on October 4, the Seahawks continued to show strides on the defensive end, conceding four goals or fewer for the second straight game.
Rider converted on a pair of goals in the first half before adding on to its lead in the third period with two more scores, taking a 4-0 lead.
Wagner freshman midfielder,
Frederique Soons netted home her first career goal early on in the third stanza.
Hannah Meyer led the Green & White with four shots in the match.
ABOUT LIU
After starting the year with four straight losses, the Sharks have rebounded by winning three of their last four games, which includes a 2-1 triumph over Lehigh.
LIU is led by a pair of forwards in freshman Kaitlyn Olton, who has netted five goals on the season and junior Sammy Bell, who has added three goals and two assists.
The Sharks have only been able to find the back of the cage 10 times on the season, converting for 1.25 goals per game, which is slightly higher than Wagner's 1.14 goals per game.
NEXT UP FOR WAGNER
Following the conclusion of Friday's contest, the Seahawks will head up to Providence, RI to take on the Bryant University Bulldogs on the campus of Brown University for a 1:00 p.m. start on Sunday, October 13.
