Moon Township, PA – Northeast Conference (NEC) action commences on Friday as the Wagner College women's soccer team opens up league action on the road by traveling to Robert Morris on Friday.
 


 
Last Time Out: vs. Temple (September 16, 2018 | Lost, 3-0)
  • The Wagner College women's soccer team fell at home to the Temple University Owls, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon at Hameline Field.
  • Temple jumped on top with the first goal of the match in the sixth minute as Morgan Morocco completed a give-and-go with teammate, Hailey Gutowski, as she was able to beat Wagner's senior goalkeeper, Katie Viscardi, to put the visitors ahead.
  • The Seahawks had a pair of a chances two minutes later. Their first chance was deemed offside, but, junior captain Christine Letendre was able to in position for a shot that was blocked by an Owl defender.
  • Temple nearly added its second goal of the game in the 17th minute when Gabriela Johnson, after receiving the corner kick from Natalie Druehl, fired a shot that was denied by Viscardi. A minute later, there was congestion around the right post as Tobin was able to locate the ball but her attempt ricocheted off the post.
  • Viscardi finished the half with two more saves, one coming in the 30th minute as Julia Dolan's header off the feed from Tobin was stopped by the senior goalkeeper. Temple held a 10-3 advantage in shots attempted in the first half, while Viscardi was able to turn away four of them.
  • The Owls went ahead by two in the 55th minute as Jules Blank was able to go one-on-one against Viscardi and put one past the Seahawk netminder. Wagner then strung together a give-and-go play of its own as sophomore Mattea Reale was able to find junior captain, Christina Letendre, in the 71st minute, found space and booted one towards the net but the veered left of the target.
  • Temple added its third marker of the match in the 74th minute as Emma Wilkins was able to rebound shot attempt from Marissa Digenova and rocket one into the back of the net.
  • Letendre led the way for the Seahawks with two shots in the match while senior Peyton Beck, sophomore Mya Donnelly and freshman Luisa Barone each had one shot in today's contest. Viscardi was credited with six saves, upping her career total to 152.
 
Wagner – Robert Morris Series History:
  • Friday's contest between the Seahawks and the Colonials marks the 25th all-time meeting between the two schools with Robert Morris leading the head-to-head series, 13-10-1.
  • Last season, Wagner was defeated by Robert Morris, 3-0, in a match that was shortened due to heavy rain and flooding at Hameline Field and was called after 70 minutes.
  • Kaitlin Flaherty made the start on Senior Day for the Green & White, recording eight saves in the contest.
  • Autumn Clark and Mya Donnelly each had four shots in the contest.
  • Wagner will look to halt a three-match losing streak against the Colonials as they last defeated the Colonials on October 5, 2014 in Moon Township, 1-0.

  • Friday's contest with Robert Morris marks the 165 all-time Northeast Conference (NEC) match the Seahawks will play
  • The most conference victories the Green & White has had is five, set back in 2014 when Wagner finished second in the league with a 5-1-2 conference mark and a 9-7-3 overall record en route to earning the No. 2 seed in the NEC Tournament that season.  
 
About The Robert Morris University Colonials:
  • The Colonials finished their non-conference slate with a 2-8 overall record.
  • After earning an opening night road victory at UMBC (8/17), RMU dropped its next six contests, being outscored, 13-5.
  • The Colonials snapped their losing skid back on September 9 with a 2-0 road victory at Youngstown State.
  • Robert Morris enters Friday's contest looking to get back in the win column after dropping its last two matches, most recently on the road at Yale, 2-1 (9/16).
  • As a whole, RMU ranks third in points (26), goals (10), and is the leading team in saves (82).

  • She has also taken a conference-leading 36 shots.
  • Sydney Bruckner has seen the majority of the contests, playing in eight matches while recording an NEC-best 58 saves while ranking tied for second in save percentage in the circuit at .821.
  
Seahawk Chart Toppers: 
  • Junior Autumn Clark is tied for ninth in the NEC in assists per game.
  • Sophomore Le'la Allen has one game-winning goal on the season, tied for fifth in the conference.
  • Viscardi ranks eighth in the circuit with 28 saves, averaging 4.0 per match.

Up Next For Wagner:
  • The Seahawks return home to Hameline Field for a pair of NEC tilts, beginning on September 28 as they welcome Bryant for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
  • Wagner concludes the weekend with a 2:00 p.m. start against Central Connecticut on September 30.
