Smithfield, RI – Wagner senior attackman Andrew Streilein reeled off three consecutive first-half goals to give the Seahawks a 3-1 lead at Bryant before the Bulldogs rallied for an 8-3 victory in Northeast Conference (NEC) play this afternoon.

With the loss, the Green & White fall to 4-7 overall on the season, 0-3 in the NEC while Bryant, which was coming off a 10-7 win over No. 15 Robert Morris, wins its fourth straight in improving to 6-5 on the season and 4-0 in league play.

After the Bulldogs took a quick 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by Jake Buonaiuto with 13:13 left in the first quarter, both teams went scoreless for the next 14:36 before Streilein went to work.

The South Jersey native's first score, at the 13:37 mark of the second quarter off an assist from freshman midfielder Tyler Grady, knotted the game at 1-1. Then, with 9:38 left in the half, Streilein gave the Seahawks a 2-1 lead with his second goal, this one coming off a feed from junior midfielder Spencer Kaufman.

Some 4:23 later, Streilein completed his hat trick with an unassisted tally to give Wagner a 3-1 lead with 5:15 remaining in the half. Thanks to a continuing stingy brand of defense, keyed by hot goal-tending from junior Matt Sefcik, the Seahawks were able to take that 3-1 lead into the locker room at halftime. Streilein's third tally of the game, however, would prove to be the last goal of the game for Wagner, which continued to excel on the defensive end. After Tom Kennedy deposited an unassisted score just 53 seconds in the second half, the teams battled on even terms for a scoreless stretch of 13:18.

The Bulldogs, however, would strike twice late in the quarter. Kevin Quigley tied it at 3-3 at the 49-second mark of the third off a Marc O'Rourke assist, before Trevor Weingarten sank the go-ahead goal, an unassisted tally with just six seconds remaining, as Bryant took a 4-3 lead into the fourth.

The Seahawkscontinued to scratch and claw the rest of the way but the Bulldogs were able to keep Wagner at bay, outscoring Wagner 4-0 in the final stanza in posting the 8-3 win.

Sefcik, who entered the game ranked fourth in the nation in both save percentage (.602) and saves per game (12.70), was again sharp in goal, finishing with 15 saves on the afternoon as Bryant was held four below its season average of 12.0 goals per game today. Of the Seahawks' 11 opponents this season, seven have now been limited to nine goals or less in a game.

Streilein and Grady led Wagner in ground balls with three each while senior midfielder JP Pawela was credited with a team-high two caused turnovers.

Buonaiuto paced Bryant with two goals on the day while six different Bulldogs notched one goal apiece in a balanced offensive scoring display. In goal, Kevin Beimfohr came up with 11 saves in recording the win.

Statistically, Bryant held the advantage in shots (39-24) and ground balls (32-21), in addition to a healthy 13-2 edge in faceoffs with Kenny Massa seeing all of the action in the faceoff X for the Bulldogs.

The Green & White are next in action on Saturday, April 14 when they travel to Fairfield, CT to meet Sacred Heart. Faceoff between the Seahawks and the Pioneers at Campus Field is set for 1:00 p.m.
