Staten Island, NY – The Wagner baseball team extended its win straight to five straight, taking game one of Saturday's Northeast Conference (NEC) doubleheader, 6-3, over Fairleigh Dickinson at Richmond County Bank Ballpark at St. George.
With the win, the Seahawks improve to 28-12 on the season and 13-3 in league contests while the Knights fall to 10-26 and 1-15 in NEC action.
Junior LHP
Neil Abbatiello (6-0) remained undefeated on the year, tossing 6.1 innings in picking up his sixth victory. The North Salem, NY native gave up three runs without allowing a walk while striking out seven for the third consecutive start and sixth time this season.
Sophomore right-hander
Nick Robino preserved the victory with his seventh save of the year, which ties him for fourth on the Seahawk all-time single-season list with Chris Pariseau, who had seven saves back in 2000.
Sophomore designated hitter
Freddy Sabido went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and drove in three RBIs. The native Staten Islander belted a pair of homers in the contest, his fourth and fifth on the season. Junior catcher

Tyler Sanfillippo were each credited with one RBI apiece.
Fairleigh Dickinson got on the board in their half of the first as Oliver Tavares singled to left, scoring Evan McDonald for the game's first run. Wagner responded in the bottom of the frame, scoring three times in taking a two-run lead at 3-1.
Following two straight hits from seniors
Nick Mascelli and
Sean Mazzio, Capra sent a sacrifice fly to center, which plated Mascelli. Following a fly out by senior LF
Anthony Godino, Sabido sent the Knights' starter, Joe Flack's, 1-0 pitch down the right field line as the ball dinged off the pole for a two-run home run.
The home nine tacked on two more runs increasing the lead to 5-1. Junior CF
Joe Silvestrone led off with a double to left field and came around to score as Sanfillippo tripled to left in giving the Seahawks a 4-1 lead. With two outs, Sanfillippo came into score on a wild pitch.
The Green & White's final tally came in the bottom of the third as Sabido led off the stanza by sending his second home run of the contest over the right field wall on a 3-1 pitch in helping Wagner build a 6-1 advantage.
The visitors got on the board in the top of the sixth. Abbatiello, who had retired seven straight FDU hitters, gave up a first-pitch double to McDonald. The next batter, Owen Vonesslinger, doubled down the left field line in plating McDonald.
In the FDU seventh, Connor Stanton singled back up the middle. With one out, the Knights sent up pinch-hitter, Steven Yelin, who singled to center, giving FDU runners on first and second.
A third straight pinch-hitter, Peter Theodorellis, reached on a single to the outfield grass that was fielded by Mascelli, loading the bases. Robino came on and the first batter he saw, Brandon Seltzer, singled through the left side, which scored Stanton in cutting the lead to 6-3.
Robino was able to close out the game, getting Jason Fatzinger to pop up to second and striking out McDonald in earning the save.
