2018 Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship Headquarters

West Windsor, NJ – For the first time in program history, the Wagner men's tennis team, the No. 2 seed in this year's Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship, will battle the top seed, Bryant, for the conference title on Sunday morning from the Mercer County Tennis Center.

All-Time Series:
  • The Seahawks and the Bulldogs will be meeting for just the eighth time since 2004 with Bryant holding a 6-1 edge in the head-to-head series.
  • Wagner's lone victory over Bryant came back on April 10, 2015, in which the Seahawks traveled to Smithfield, RI and earned a 4-3 victory.

How We Got Here:
For Wagner:
  • The No. 2 seeded Wagner advanced to its first-ever NEC final with a thrilling 4-3 win over third-seeded Saint Francis U.
  • With the score knotted at three apiece, it all came down to the No. 2 singles match.
  • Junior Anatioliy Lashkul took the first set from SFU's Alec Dylan Foo-Kune in a tiebreaker, but the Red Flash senior came back with a 6-4 win in the second set.
  • With all the attention from those in attendance on the match, Lashkul delivered the final blow with a 6-3 third set win to send the Seahawks to the finals.

For Bryant:
  • The Bulldogs, who enter the match at 13-15 overall, blanked the No. 4 seed, Fairleigh Dickinson, 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.
  • Matt Kuhar, the defending NEC Player of the Year, secured a 6-2; 6-3 win at No. 1 while fellow All-NEC performers Luke Lorenz and Jorge Ortiz-Garcia both won in straight sets.

Up Next:
  • The winner of Sunday's match will go on to represent the NEC in the upcoming NCAA Championships.
