2018 Spring Practice Schedule (Subject to Change)
Staten Island, NY – With spring practice beginning underway in leading up to the annual Green & White Game, which will be held on Saturday, April 21, Wagner head football coach
Jason Houghtaling has announced several staff changes.
Joining the Seahawks as Assistant Head Coach/Special Teams Coordinator/Defensive Backs will be
Darrell Wilson, who has 16 years of experience at three different Big 10 institutions.
Houghtaling has also announced that veteran Seahawk defensive coordinator
Tony Brinson will serve as Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator/Outside LBs. In addition, Defensive Assistant
Terrance Knighton and Offensive Assistant/Tight Ends Coach
Walter Kusmirek will serve as Co-Recruiting Coordinators, replacing Steve Ciocci, who recently accepted a position on the staff at Florida International University.
Brinson

Darrell Wilson is an extremely impressive and accomplished coach who has worked at the highest level of college football, and has done so for many years.
"
Tony Brinson has done a tremendous job leading our defense. He's proven, well-respected and extremely deserving of being our Assistant Head Coach," Houghtaling added. "I'm also very confident that Terrance and Walter will do an outstanding job in their additional roles heading up our recruiting efforts.
"Terrance's NFL background resonates with recruits and Walt, in his time here, has proven to be a valuable asset in many areas," he added. "Both of these coaches relate extremely well to young people will do a great job in helping us sell our vision for Wagner College football."
Wilson began his collegiate coaching career at Wisconsin where he served as outside linebackers/special teams coach.
Wilson
He then spent 12 seasons at Iowa working in various capacities, including heading up the
Hawkeyes' special teams, linebackers and defensive back units. Most recently, Wilson spent three seasons (2013-15) as defensive backs coach at Rutgers.
A native of Camden, NJ where he starred at Woodrow Wilson High School, Wilson is a 1981 graduate of the University of Connecticut, where he earned All-American honors. Before his collegiate coaching career began, Wilson compiled a 65-18 record (1988-95) as head coach at Woodrow Wilson HS where his teams won five conference championships and four times advanced to the South Jersey Group III State Finals. He was a 2017 inductee into the South Jersey Football Coaches Hall of Fame.
Brinson will enter his 25th season as a collegiate football coach in 2018 and his eighth season at Wagner. During his seven seasons on Grymes Hill, the veteran North Jersey native has worn many hats, having served in the roles of recruiting coordinator, in addition to coaching the Seahawks' special teams, defensive line and linebackers.
Knighton
A member of the coaching staffs that led Wagner to the 2012 and 2014 (regular season) NEC Championship squads, his teams have produced two team MVPs, four Defensive MVP's, eight All-Northeast Conference players and four NFL free agents. Included among those free agents is veteran linebacker Julian Stanford, a former member of the New York Jets who recently signed a contract with the Buffalo Bills.
Kusmirek
In addition to being tabbed Co-Recruiting Coordinator, Kusmirek will his third year tutoring Wagner's tight ends in 2018. In this two seasons as a member of the Seahawk staff, Kusmirek helped Ryan Owens develop into a 2016 First-Team All-NEC tight end. Last season, he guided
Chris Woodard to a 22-catch, 210-yard season which helped him earn a spot on the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-America Team.
