Hamden, CT – Following a 13-day break, the Wagner College softball team earned a 10-7 victory at Quinnipiac in the second game of a doubleheader, after falling to the Bobcats 6-5 in game one despite a furious late comeback attempt.
With the split, Wagner moves to 5-11 overall on the season, while the Bobcats now sit at 9-15 this year.

Kaila Smith, the Seahawks prevailed in an offensive shootout.
The Green and White got on the board in the second inning. After the Seahawks loaded the bases, Reece was hit by a pitch to bring in sophomore
Hannah Lewis and give Wagner a 1-0 lead.
After the Bobcats took a 2-1 lead in the bottom half of the second, Wagner roared back with a five-run third inning. Four consecutive walks to sophomore
Zoe Bender, senior
Stefanie Aplin, junior
Jessica Carlucci and junior
Lauren Serrato brought in the first run of the frame and set the Seahawks up nicely.
Smith was hit by a pitch to score another run, before sophomore
Amelia Van Orman brought in Carlucci with an RBI single two batters later. Next up, Reece doubled to score Smith and Serrato and give Wagner a 6-2 advantage.
The Bobcats cut the lead down to 6-5 in the bottom of the third, before the Green and White took a 9-5 lead in the sixth on RBI singles by Bender and Smith. Bender extended the lead with another RBI single in the seventh, but the Bobcats weren't done, scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh to make it 10-7 but Wagner was able to hold for the win.
Freshman
Arielle Koerber earned her fourth win of the season after throwing 5.1 innings, while junior
Ciera Luna picked up her first save of the season in relief, pitching the remaining 1.2 frames.
Quinnipiac had a 12-10 advantage in hits. Bender, Aplin, and Carlucci all had two hits for the Seahawks, while junior
Karen Prihoda, Smith, Van Orman, and Reece added one hit apiece.
Game 1: Quinnipiac 6, Wagner 5
The Bobcats scored one run in the third and three imore n the fourth to take an early 4-0 lead.
The Seahawks' comeback attempt started in the sixth, as an RBI single by Van Orman, a two-run double by Prihoda, and an RBI single by Bender cut the deficit to 4-3.
Two runs by Quinnipiac in the bottom half of the inning extended the Bobcats advantage to 6-3, but the Green and White did not go away quietly in the top of the seventh.
After Carlucci reached on an error, Serrato and Smith singled to bring home the first run of the inning. Following a walk to sophomore
Alyssa Tucker, Van Orman flied out to left to score Serrato and make it a one-run game, but Wagner could not push the tying run across, falling to the Bobcats by a score of 6-5.
Prihoda led the Seahawks with 2 RBIs, while Serrato and Aplin both had two hits apiece.
Senior
Morgan Brown was charged with the loss after throwing 5.2 innings, while Luna came on to record the final out of the sixth inning.
The Seahawks are back in action tomorrow, as they will travel to Manhattan for a doubleheader, scheduled for 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
