Men's Tennis Picks Up A 6-1 Road Win At Saint Peter's On Friday Afternoon

Newark, NJ – The Wagner men's tennis team earned its fifth victory of the season, defeating Saint Peter's of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), 6-1, on Friday afternoon.
 
The Seahawks improve to 5-4 on the season while the Peacocks fall to 2-11.
 
The Green & White swept through doubles play in earning the first point of the match. Anatoliy Lashkul and Dale Sandy bested the pairing of Piotr Sowinski/Ivan Knezevic, 6-1. In No. 3 doubles, the tandem of Ilya Kneppelhout and Charlton Boyd got past Doug Nover/Sebastian Ferrer, 6-3. At No. 2 play, Dylan Walters and Eric Poland edged out Hector Jacome/John Oxner, 7-5.
 
In singles play, Wagner took a 3-0 lead in the match after Poland defeated Ignacio Tintore (2-6, 6-0, 6-2) while Hans Ohrner defeated Oxner, 6-3; 6-3, at No. 3 action. For Poland, it marked his 39th career singles win while Ohrner reached the 25-win mark.
 
Saint Peter's picked up its lone victory of the match as Sowinski bested Lashkul, 4-6, 6-4, 7-5, at No. 2.
 
The Seahawks wrapped up the match as Walters, Kneppelhout and Boyd each won their matches, with Walters and Kneppelhout need a third set in order to achieve the victory.  For Boyd, his victory marked the 65th of his career, while improving to a team-best 17-2 in match play.
 
The Green & White will next be in action on March 20 as they square off against NJIT.
