Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College women's track and field team hosted the Wagner College Shootout at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Friday afternoon. The Seahawks took home first-place honors, racking up 143 points. Temple came in second with 125 points while fellow Northeast Conference (NEC) member, St. Francis Brooklyn, placed third with 63 points. LIU Brooklyn (49) and Monmouth (40) rounded out the five-team, Division I field.
Senior
Miracle Nwobu placed first in the 60m dash with a time of 7.83 while also producing a top-five finish in the 300m dash, clocking in at 41.32. Along with Nwobu in the 300m dash, freshman
Sara Rutherford produced a top-ten performance, clocking in at 42.60 to finish in seventh. Sophomore
Anna Greentree was among the top-15, crossing the finish line at 44.86.
Three Seahawks were among the top-five finishers in the 600m as junior
Jenna Gibilisco led the way with a first-place showing, finishing the race at 1:38.65. Classmate
Alexandra Elder was third with a time of 1:40.93 while newcomer
Kayla Hay rounded out the top-five finishes in fifth place at 1:42.61.
Juniors
Sara Carney and
Allison Santorelli took home second-place finishes in the 3000m and mile, respectively, as Carney clocked in with a time of 10:29.86 in the 3000m while Santorelli crossed the finish line at 5:22.98. Sophomore
Vivian Liell and
Jordan Sorilla finished third and fourth in the 3000m with Liell posting a time of 10:59.19 and Sorilla finishing at 11:36.27.
The SMR squad, consisting of Hay, sophomore
Cheyenne Brown, Nwobu and Santorelli took second place in the event with a time of 4:26.71. The 4x400 relay team of Elder, Gibilisco, Rutherford and Greentree placed fourth with a time of 4:13.54.
In the field events, sophomore
Tiffany Hanna finished first in the weight throw with her best mark clearing 15.41m while classmate
Jodie Bonhometre finished second at 13.20m. Freshman
Christina Samuels Lee placed fourth in the event with a finals mark of 10.21m. Bonhometre went on to place second in the shot put finals with her best launch landing 13.23m, while Hanna finished third throwing the shot put 12.78m. Samuels Lee rounded out the top-five with her best mark landing 9.83m.
Freshman Hannah
Cloutier took first in the pole vault event with a mark of 3.05m while
Cheyenne Brown finished third in the long jump finals with a soar of 4.95m.
Bridget Beahn placed fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.40m rounded out the field competitors for Wagner.
The women's track & field team will open the New Year on January 7, 2019 when they host the Wagner College Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex.
