Emilija Krista Grava notched double-figure scoring performances but it wasn't enough as the Wagner College women's basketball team fell to the Fordham University Rams, 80-59, on Friday evening at the historic Rose Hill Gym.
With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 0-2 on the young season while Fordham earns its first win of the season as Friday's New York City clash was the home/season lidlifter for the Bronx-based school.
Edwards led the way for the visitors, scoring 16 points on an efficient 6-of-10 shooting, while connecting on 4-of-7 from three-point range and pulling down a team-best five rebounds. Krista Grava notched her second double-figure scoring performance in as many games, finishing the contest with 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field.

Four Rams concluded the contest in double-figures, led by Bre Cavanaugh, notched a double-double, concluding the contest with a game-best 20 points and pulling down ten rebounds. Kendell Heremaia notched 13 points and seven caroms in her 25 minutes of action.
Kailyn Downey and Mary Goulding netted 12 and 10 points, respectively, on a combined 8-of-17 shooting while pulling down a combined 12 rebounds.
Fordham held a 30-17 lead after the first quarter of action. Wagner got a majority of its scoring from Krista Grava and Edwards, who combined to score 15 of the first 17 points for the visitors. The Seahawks were able to find their rhythm, converting on 53.8 percent from the floor in the opening quarter, while hitting on 40.0 percent from the outside.
The visitors carried the momentum over into the second quarter, as Dailey was able to complete the three-point play after converting on the layup, which started the Seahawks comeback. At the 4:15 mark of the quarter, Edwards prevented Lauren Holden to score along the baseline, swatting the ball away as time expired on the Fordham shot clock.
With a minute left in the frame, Carter was able to drive the lane, which brought two Rams' defenders to collapse on her, as the senior guard found Pollard in the corner for the trifecta, cutting Fordham's lead to 45-31.
How launched a three-pointer off the Carter feed that trimmed the deficit to 11 with thirty-two seconds remaining before the break. Fordham's Downey made one of two from the charity stripe as the Rams held a 46-34 advantage at the break.
Wagner shot 48.1 percent in the opening half while the Rams were held to just 42.9 percent from the field but capitalized from the outside, converting on 61.5 percent from deep (8-of-13) while the Seahawks hit on 4-of-10 from three-point range.
The third quarter was controlled by Fordham, limiting Wagner to just 1-of-10 from the field and without a made three-pointer in six chances. The visitors were outscored 20-6 in the frame as Fordham took a 66-40 lead heading into the final quarter, which proved to be the difference.
For the game, Wagner shot 42.0 percent from the field while hitting on 34.5 percent from the outside. Fordham hit on 43.3 percent from the floor while making 9-of-22 from deep. The Rams held a 42-23 advantage on the glass, which included a 16-to-5 edged on the offensive side.
The Seahawks conclude its three-game road trip to start the 2018-19 season on Wednesday, November 14, as they will travel to Farmville, VA to tangle with Big South members, Longwood. Tipoff is set for 11:30 a.m.
