The visiting Seahawks scored the first points of the contest as How dialed up a three-point from the corner to give Wagner the early lead. A minute later, Krista Grava, etched her name on the stat sheet, netting her first Wagner points on a corner trifecta, which increased the Green & White lead to 6-0.
Seton Hall responded in the form of a 15-0 run over a near four-minute stretch in taking a 15-6 advantage as the Pirates held Wagner without field goal (0-for-3) as Cardaci was the catalyst for SHU with six of the 15 points. Krista Grava put an end to the Pirates' run with her second three-pointer of the contest, as Wagner trailed 15-9. How cut the deficit to four, 15-11, with 3:17 showing in the first quarter as the Opunake, New Zealand native converted on a reverse layup. Krista Grava again put a halt in Seton Hall's extended run by converting a mid-range jumper off a feed from sophomore
Addie Masonius.
From that point, Wagner did outscore SHU, 10-9, but the Pirates entered the halftime break with a 52-27.
