Huddleston, VA – In its first year of existence, competing at the Women's College Triathlon East Qualifier on Saturday in the final race of the 2018 regular season, all six members of the Wagner team qualified for next month's Women's Collegiate Triathlon National Championship at Arizona State University.
Graduate student
Fabia Maramotti led the way for the Seahawks, completing the race in a time of 1:04:12. A trio of freshmen were Wagner's second, third and fourth finishers in
Yasmin Rieger (1:06:16),
Kabrina Weaver (1:08.53), and Anna Carrion I Barea (1:09:00). Rounding out the Seahawk national championship qualifiers were graduate student
Maddie McNichol (1:10:17), who is a former four-year member of he Wagner swimming & diving team, and junior
Emily Upton (1:13:19).
"The team performed phenomenally and I couldn't be prouder or happier for them," said head coach
Maurya Couvares. "To have each team member qualify to race at NCAA Nationals is very special. Each race that we compete in, we learn something newm and we are excited to improve based on what we learned in this race."
The 2018 Women's Collegiate Triathlon National Championships will take place on Sunday, November 4.
