With the victory, the Seahawks earned their first win of the 2018-19 season while Fairfield falls to 1-1 on the year.

The visiting Seahawks got on the board first, taking two of three matches in doubles play. The pairing of junior Dylan Walters and graduate transfer Lucas Gonzalez picked up a 6-2 win over the pairing of Allan Magid/Jeffrey Rodgers at No. 2 play.

Seniors Eric Poland and Ilya Kneppelhout picked up a 6-1 triumph over Jan Parizek and Orban at No. 3 doubles action. The pairing of Lashkul and senior Dale Sandy fought valiantly at No. 1 but dropped a 6-4 decision to Lewis Edwards and Tyler Shibles.

In singles action, Kneppelhout defeated John Hatala, 6-1; 6-4 to put Wagner ahead in the match 2-0. Fairfield rallied back with three straight wins at No. 2, 6 and No. 4 play.

The Seahawks stopped Fairfield's win streak at No. 3. Walters was pitted against Edwards. After dropping the first set, 6-1, Walters was able to regain his composure and secure back-to-back, 6-3 wins to set up the deciding match at No. 1, in which Wagner came out victorious.

Wagner will conclude its fall season on October 27 as they will participate in the Fordham University Invitational.
