Pittsburgh, PA - Following an impressive 91-61 win at Saint Francis U on ESPNU Friday night, the Wagner men's basketball team closes out its two-game tour of Western Pennsylvania by taking on the Robert Morris University on Sunday afternoon in a 2:00 p.m. start at PPG Paints Arena in a matchup between teams that are tied for first place in Northeast Conference (NEC).

  • The Wagner men's basketball staff will participate in Coaches vs. Cancer week in its games at Saint Francis U and Robert Morris.
  • Coaches vs. Cancer Suits And Sneakers® Week (January 22-28, 2018) is a nationwide event that unites coaches across the country to raise funds and awareness about the fight against cancer, and promotes the American Cancer Society as a source of inspiration and hope for those facing cancer.
  • While coaching games during the week, coaches wear sneakers with their game attire as a visible reminder about the importance of fighting cancer.

Seahawk Three-Pointers:
  • The Seahawks will be looking for its first road sweep of both Saint Francis U and Robert Morris since January 25 & January 27, 2003, when the Seahawks bested RMU, 101-80 and SFU 84-72. The Green & White earned a 91-61 victory over Saint Francis U on Thursday evening in the first part of the trip
  • This afternoon's contest at PPG Paints Arena is Wagner's first-ever visit to the venue as Wagner will look for its second victory on the road against RMU under head coach Bashir Mason (1-5).
  • Senior guard JoJo Cooper was tabbed NEC Player and Metropolitan Basketball Writers' Association (MBWA) Of The Week after averaging a near triple-double over the last two games (14.0 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 9.0 apg).

Last Time Out For Wagner: @ Saint Francis U (January 26, 2018):
  • In front of a national television audience on ESPNU, and led by a career-high 30-point outburst from redshirt junior guard Romone Saunders, Northeast Conference (NEC)-leading Wagner earned a resounding 91-61 victory at preseason league favorite Saint Francis U to complete a season sweep of the Red Flash at DeGol Arena on Friday night.
  • Saunders' career night came on 12-of-18 shooting, which included 5-of-8 accuracy from three-point range. The 6'3" Saunders also led Wagner in rebounds with seven. Saunders' 30-point outing marks the first time since March 1, 2017 when Michael Carey erupted for 32 against the Fairleigh Dickinson University Knights in the NEC quarterfinals.
  • Sophomore guard Blake Francis, added 22 points after going 8-of-11 from the field, highlighted by an eye-popping 6-of-8 from beyond the arc.
  • For Francis & Saunders, this marks the second time this season in which a pair of teammates have eclipsed 20 or more points as both Francis and junior guard Elijah Davis each went for 20 points at home against UMass Lowell back on December 5.
  • Senior guard JoJo Cooper, the reigning Metropolitan Writers Association and NEC Player of the Week, who was coming off of consecutive double-doubles, hit for 10 points while adding eight assists and four rebounds.
  • Junior guard Devin Liggeons was the fourth Seahawk in double-digit, as he also tallied 10 points, to go with five rebounds. Wagner is now 5-1 this season when four players score in double-figures and are 36-11 all-time under head coach, Bashir Mason, who earned his 101st career victory.
  • Wagner shot a scorching 55 percent (33-of-60) on the evening, which is the second-best shooting game by the Seahawks this season, behind only the 56.4 percent night vs. UMass Lowell (12/5).  The Seahawks' league-leading defense limited SFU to 40.9 percent shooting while the 61 points scored are a season -ow for the Red Flash.

  • For Cooper, this marks the first MBWA citation of his career as he becomes the first Seahawk to earn the weekly award since his former Seahawk teammate, Marcus Burton ('15), earned the distinction for the week of January 12-18, 2015.
  • The 6-0 Wilmington, DE native led Wagner to a perfect 2-0 record for the week which propelled Wagner into a first-place tie in the conference standings.
