Elon, NC – The Wagner College softball team dropped a pair of tightly-contested 3-2 decisions to Saint Joseph's and Elon on Saturday on day two of the Elon Tournament.
With the losses, the Seahawks fall to 0-4 on the season, while SJU improves to 2-6 on the year and Elon moves to 9-6 on the young season.

Game 1 Recap – Saint Joseph's 3, Wagner 2
Sophomore
Karen Prihoda (Hamilton Square, NJ / The Lawrenceville School) scored two runs in the first game of the doubleheader and the Green and White took a 2-0 lead into the fifth inning, but fell short in the end.
Wagner first got on the board in the first inning, when a fielding error at third base allowed junior transfer
Stefanie Aplin (Nesconset, NY / Smithtown East / Georgian Court University) to reach at first, while Prihoda came home to score. Prihoda, who went 2-for-2 in game one, doubled to center in the third inning, setting up the Seahawks' second run of the game. The sophomore successfully stole third with two outs in the inning and crossed the plate on an error, this time committed by the Hawks' catcher.
SJU tied the game in the fifth inning on a two-run home run and took the lead in the sixth inning on an RBI single by Stacey Mayer.
Senior
McKaleigh Goodale (Bradenton, FL / Lakewood Ranch) was charged with the loss after tossing six innings, allowing three runs while striking out three.
Game 2 Recap – Elon 3, Wagner 2
Despite hitting their first home run of the season, the Seahawks were unable to come through in the late innings and fell to Elon for the second straight day.
Freshman
Christina Harkins (Staten Island, NY / Notre Dame Academy), a Staten Island native, homered to left center in the third inning for her first collegiate RBI, after the Phoenix had jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
In the fifth inning, sophomore
Erica Krumbine ( Freehold, NJ / Saint John Vianney High School) singled and advanced to second on a groundout by freshman
Kat Holmes-Stall (Trabuco Canyon, CA / Santa Margarita Catholic). Prihoda then registered her third of the afternoon, scoring Krumbine to tie the game at 2-2.
The Phoenix won the game in the seventh inning on a Kristin Hoover double to left, allowing Morgan Reich to score the winning run.
Wagner finished the game with four hits, while freshman
Amelia Van Orman (Orange, CA / Lutheran High School of Orange County) suffered her first loss of the season after throwing 2.1 innings in relief.
