Staten Island, NY – The Wagner women's water polo team looks to extend its undefeated Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) record in a 7:00 pm matchup with local rival, Iona College on Wednesday, March 29. The Seahawks opened league play 5-0, while winning its 19th consecutive MAAC regular season contest over St. Francis (NY) on March 26.

Previewing Wagner-Iona:
Wagner faces the Iona Gales for the second time this season after winning the first meeting 13-8 behind a team-high five goals from junior utility Kimberly Watson (Pointe-Claire, Quebec / John Rennie). Tied 5-5 at intermission, senior goalkeeper Emily Riddle (Edmonton, Alberta / Dr. E.P. Scarlett) held the Gaels scoreless in the third quarter as the Seahawks netted four consecutive markers to extend its lead 9-5. Freshman attack Jacquie Sjogren (Queensland, Australia / St. Andrews Anglican College) registered a hat trick in the final stanza as Watson netted her fifth strike to secure a victory for the Green & White.

Scouting The Gaels:
Iona is currently 6-8 on the season, boasting a 2-2 league record after the second weekend of MAAC competition. Most recently, the Gaels suffered a 13-11 defeat in double overtime to No. 24 Marist College on March 26. After leading the Red Foxes for most of the first three stanzas, Iona was outscored 7-2 in the fourth quarter and two overtime periods. Despite 15 saves by junior goalie Britten Vilander and six goals from junior Hannah Schultz, the Gaels were unable to stop the Red Foxes' late offensive surge.

Hot Hands For The Green & White
A total of nine Seahawks netted goals throughout Wagner's three-game stint in upstate New York. Sophomore attack Erica Hardy (Montreal, Quebec / St. Thomas) led the Seahawks with 12 tallies, burying a team-high of five in Wagner's 17-5 triumph over Villanova on March 26. Trailing her was junior utility Kimberly Watson who registered 11 markers including two five-goal performances against Siena and St. Francis. Additionally, Watson's fourth quarter strike against St. Francis marked her 144th career goal, putting her in tenth place on the program's all-time scoring list.
