Women's Tennis Falls To Queens College On Friday Morning

Flushing, NY - The Wagner College women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 non-conference decision to Division III members, Queens College, on Friday morning. With the loss, the Seahawks falter to 7-5 on the year while the Knights improve to 10-2 on the season.

Junior Samantha Hodges (Encinitas, CA / San Dieguito Academy) secured the lone victory for the Green & White during singles action, defeating Emy Alplund, 6-1; 6-4; 10-4 in No. 4 Flight play.  With the singles victory, Hodges is tied for the seventh most singles victory since 2005 as she earned her 15th singles win, tying her with former Seahawk Valerie LeCureux. 

The duo of senior Madison Pautsch (Costa Mesa, CA/Edison) and junior Brenda Cumpa (Lima, Peru/ Carmelitas [West Virginia State University]) improved to 4-1 on the season as the outlasted Line Sorsdahl Aasen/Araceli Alexixendri, 8-6, in Flight Doubles No. 3 action. 

The Seahawks gear up for a Northeast Conference (NEC) contest against the Mount St. Mary's on Monday, March 27 at 8:00 a.m. from  Westwinds Tennis and Fitness in New Market, MD.
