Geneva, NY – Chris Aslanian scored six goals and assisted on seven others while Justin Scott added a hat trick in leading Hobart to a 17-5 victory over Wagner this afternoon in the Northeast Conference (NEC) opener for both teams at Boswell Field.
The Statesmen built a 7-2 halftime lead and put the game out of reach by outscoring the Seahawks 8-0 in the third quarter. With the loss, Wagner falls to 4-5 overall on the season (0-1 NEC) while Hobart evens its season mark at 4-4 (1-0 NEC).
Freshman attackman
Dominic Branda (Ringwood, NJ / Don Bosco Prep) paced Wagner offensively with two points (1g, 1 a). Four other Seahawks recorded one goal apiece in fifth-year senior midfielder
Paul DeVita (Westfield, NJ / Westfield), junior attacker
Andrew Streilein (Mt. Laurel, NJ / Lenape), freshman attackman
Nic Ancona (Warrenton, PA / Paul VI), and senior defenseman
Evan Clark (Vaughan, Ontario / The Hill Academy). For Clark, this was the first goal of his career.
Sophomore goalie
Matt Sefcik (Towaco, NJ / Morristown Beard) registered 10 saves in goal while playing the first three quarters of the game before giving way to sophomore
Omar Alhagiko (Staten Island, NY / Curtis).
The Seahawks are next in action on Saturday, March 25 when Wagner plays its final non-conference game of the season vs. NJIT. The contest vs. the Highlanders will be played at Drew University in Madison, NJ as the NJIT's home facility is undergoing renovation.
