Lauren Ednie (Verona, NJ / Verona) sank four goals while senior attacker
Olivia Streilein (Mt. Laurel, NJ / Lenape) and sophomore midfielder
Marjorie Dehm (Baldwinsville, NY / C.W. Baker / Vermont) tossed in three apiece to power the Wagner women's lacrosse team to its second straight win, a 17-12 decision at Stetson tonight.
On the heels of Monday's 16-13 home victory over Saint Mary's (CA), the Seahawks improve to 2-5 on the season and will continue their two-game Spring Break road trip on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. vs. Jacksonville. With the loss, the Hatters fall to 0-7.
For Ednie, the four goals are a career high, and she added two assists to finish with a career and game-high six points. On the evening, the 5'2" sparkplug also tied for team-high honors with five groundballs to go with a team-best three caused turnovers.
Junior attacker
Heidi Colford (Eden Praire, MN / Eden Praire), one of three Seahawks to record two goals, added a career-high six assists which gave her a career-best eight points. Sophomore attacker
Anna Belle Reilly (Paradise Valley, AZ / Notre Dame Prep) was another of the two-goal scorers for Wagner, which went with a career-high three assists, for five points.
Freshman
Talia Bouzakis (Mullica Hill, NJ / Clearview) also got into the act offensively, recording the first three points of her young career with two goals and an assist.
In goal, junior
Lucy Darlington (Timonium, MD / Notre Dame Preparatory) notched her second consecutive win in recording a career-high 12 saves.
Wagner, which never trailed in the game, broke open an early 1-1 tie with four unanswered goals, with Colford assisting on three of those, to open a 5-1 lead. After the Hatters went on a 5-1 spurt to make draw within 6-5, the Seahawks answered with a pair of Reilly goals, the latter coming with just 32 seconds left in the half, in building an 8-5 halftime cushion.
After the teams traded a pair of goals to open the second half, Streilein buried two straight goals to ignite a 3-0 run that was capped by an Ednie score at the 11:27 mark which gave the Seahawks their biggest lead of five at 13-8. Stetson countered with a 4-1 run to close to 14-12 with 4:51 to play.
Ednie then righted the ship for Wagner, tossing in a pair of goals, with Reilly adding another, as the Seahawks closed the game on a 3-0 run over the final 3:04 of the game with the final score matching the largest lead of the night for the Green & White.
Wagner outshot Stetson 41-31 and led in groundballs by a 32-28 count while the Hatters held an 18-13 edge in draw controls.
Stetson was paced offensively by four different players who scored two goals apiece while Liza Diamond recorded 12 saves in goal.
