Lewisburg, PA – Sophomore attack
Marjorie Dehm (Baldwinsville, NY / C.W. Baker [University of Vermont]) scored three goals while junior attack
Heidi Colford (Eden Prairie, MN / Eden Prairie) added two tallies, but it was not enough as the Wagner women's lacrosse team fell to Bucknell, 16-6, on Saturday.
With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 0-3 on the season, while the Bison move to 4-1.
The Seahawks jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a goal by senior attack and co-captain
Olivia Streilein (Mt. Laurel, NJ / Lenape) five minutes into the game. After Colford tied the score at 2-2, the Bison countered with a 3-0 run, before Dehm's first tally made it 6-3 at halftime.
In the second half, Colford's second goal, with 27:05 to play, answered a Bucknell score that opened the stanza which made it a 7-4 game. The Bison pulled away from there, scoring seven unanswered goals in building a comfortable 14-4 lead. Dehm completed her hat trick with two goals in the game's final eight minutes, while Bucknell also added two tallies to fashion the final score at 16-6.
Sophomore defender
Margaret Jent (Sparta, NJ / Sparta) and senior defender and co-captain
Amanda Rey (Turnersville, NJ / Washington Township) paced the Seahawks with five ground balls apiece, while junior goalie
Lucy Darlington (Timonium, MD / Notre Dame Preparatory) added three ground balls.
Sophomore defender
Madeline Courtney (Columbia, MD / Marriots Ridge) led the Seahawks in draw controls with four.
Darlington got the start in goal and played the first 45:18 of the game before giving way to junior
Kelsey Fee (White Plains, NY / White Plains/ Ithaca College) who came on to play the final 14:42 between the pipes.Leading the way for the Bison was Maddy Molinary, who contributed five goals and seven draw controls while Eve Lukowski, Audrey Walsh and Bridget Shaffrey added two goals apiece.
The Seahawks will be back in action next Saturday, March 4, when they travel to Bethlehem, PA to meet their second consecutive Patriot League foe, the Lehigh University Mountain Hawks, in a 1:00 p.m. start.
