West Point, NY - The Wagner women's tennis team saw its season-high five-match win streak come to an end on Friday afternoon after being shutout by the Army West Point Black Knights, 7-0, at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center.

With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 6-2 on the season while the Black Knights improve to 4-3.

Army swept through doubles play by posting 6-3 finals in each of the three doubles matches. The Seahawks put forth a valiant effort on the afternoon. Freshman Vedika Anand (New Delhi, India / The Shri Ram School) and sophomore Rina Baynes (Johns Creek, GA / Chattahoochee) foiled Army's plan of taking all the singles points.

Anand earned a 6-4 first set victory in No. 1 singles over Nancy Porter while Baynes, named to the All-NEC Rookie team a season ago, picked up a 6-3 first set win over Sera Martorelli. Anand was edged by Porter, 6-4, and 10-8 while Martorelli earned a 6-3; 6-4 win, securing the victory for Army.

The Seahawks will have a quick turnaround, as they travel to Northeast Conference (NEC) member St. Francis Brooklyn on Saturday, February 18 for a 12:00 p.m. start.
