Staten Island, NY – Senior guard JoJo Cooper tossed in a career-high 20 points to lead six players in double figures, as the Wagner men's basketball team breezed past the College of Staten Island (CSI), 107-64, on Tuesday night at the Spiro Sports Center.

In winning their second straight, on the heels of last Saturday's win over American, the Seahawks improve to 3-1 on the season while the Dolphins fall to 1-3. Sophomore guard Blake Francis was Wagner's second-leading scorer with 19 points, 15 of which coming in the second half on 5-of-9 shooting in the frame. Junior guard Devin Liggeons netted a season-high 14 with eight rebounds in 26 minutes of play. With the game comfortably in hand early, Seahawk sixth-year head coach Bashir Mason was able to substitute liberally, as all 10 players who dressed saw action. A host of young Seahawks enjoyed career nights on this night. Redshirt-freshman forward Jamar Brown tallied a career-best 13 points, buoyed by a perfect 4-of-4 shooting night from the floor. Fellow neophyte forward Nigel Jackson not only had a career-best 11 points, he also pulled down a career and game-high 14 rebounds, but further filled the stat column with a game-high four blocks and five assists. Redshirt junior forward AJ Sumbry was Wagner's sixth double-digit scorer, hitting for a season-best 10 points, one shy of his career high. Freshman guard Chase Freeman made his presence felt, producing nine points and five assists, both career highs, junior small forward Elijah Davis added seven, while freshman guard Tyler Plummer chipped in with two. With six players hitting for double-figures on the evening, it was the first-time since last year on February 18, 2016 at Fairleigh Dickinson.  For CSI, the Dolphins were led by Stephen Flagg's 20-point effort while Christian Taylor added 12. Taylor was the top rebounder for the visitors, grabbing a team-high five caroms and dishing out a team-best three helpers.

Leading by a count of 13-10 following a jumper in the lane by Taylor with 12:06 left in the first half, the Seahawks used a 24-8 run over the next 7:41 in building a commanding 37-18 en route to seizing a 53-28 halftime bulge.

Cooper led the way in the opening half, tossing in 14 points in leading Wagner to its 25-point halftime lead, while Liggeons added 10.The Seahawks shot 50 percent over the game's opening 20 minutes while doubling up the Dolphins in rebounds by a 30-15 margin. Taylor led CSI with eight first-half points. Aiding the Seahawks' cause in the opening half was robust 77 percent shooting from the free throw line, as Wagner was 20-of-26 from the charity stripe, while CSI was just 4-of-7.

The Seahawks are next in action on Sunday, November 26 at Hartford of the America East Conference. Tip-off between the Seahawks and Hawks is set for 2:00 p.m.

NOTE:
  • Tonight's game marked the first time that Wagner has hit the 100-point mark since November 18, 2013 when the Seahawks posted a 102-87 victory at Coppin State.
  • The victory marked career victory No. 90 for head coach Bashir Mason, who now owns a 90-70 overall record (.563). He becomes the fifth Wagner head coach to record at least 90 career wins (Herb Sutter, 352 | Tim Capstraw, 117 | Chester Sellitto, 97 |  Mike Deane, 95 | Bashir Mason 90).
