Army West Point Invitational Results

West Point, NY - The Wagner College men's tennis team competed in the two-day Army West Point Invitational this past weekend in which the Seahawks took on the host Black Knights, fellow Northeast Conference (NEC) member, Sacred Heart and the UConn Huskies.

Wagner vs. Army
Against the host Black Knights, the Seahawks took three of four doubles matches. Junior
Dale Sandy (Durban, South Africa / Kersney College Secondary School) and teammate sophomore
Dylan Walters (Johannesburg, South Africa / St Stithians Boys' College) picked up a 7-5 triumph at No. 1 doubles over Michael Nguyen/Gregory Shannon.

Anatoliy Lashkul (Kiev, Ukraine / High School #78) and classmate
Ilya Kneppelhout (Woubrugge, Netherlands / Scala College Secondary School) were victorious, 8-7, over Michael Sienko and Anant Mundra.

Rounding out doubles action, seniors
Charlton Boyd (Shreveport, LA / Loyola College Prep) and
Allen Wang (Clovis, CA / Buchanan) earned a 6-2 win over the pairing of Daniel Zheng and Morgan Hale.

Lashkul and Ohrner picked up singles victories at No. 1 and No. 4, respectively, as Lashkul edged Nguyen, 7-6/6-0 while Ohrner outlasted Simonsen, 1-6, 6-2, 10-8.

Wagner vs. UConn
The Seahawks took all four doubles matches against the Huskies.

In singles action, Sandy was victorious at No. 4 singles with a 7-6 (4); 6-2 decision over UConn's Brady Flanagan.

Junior
Eric Poland (Fort Meyers, FL / Bishop Verot) bested John Holtman in No. 5 singles play with a 7-5; 7-6 (11) victory.

Sophomore
Siddharth Anand (New Delhi, India / Modern School Barakhamba Road) picked up the Green & White's third victory against the Huskies, as he got past Hank Hill, 6-0; 6-2.

Wagner vs. Sacred Heart
For the first time since last season's NEC quarterfinals, the Green & White was pitted against the Pioneers.

Wagner took two of three in doubles action before sweeping all seven singles matches to conclude the tournament.
Â
The Seahawks will have their first dual match of the season on October 10 when they travel to Lawrenceville, NJ to tangle with Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) members, Rider University. The match is set for a 3:00 p.m. start.
