14th Annual NJIT Highlander XC Challenge Results
Newark, NJ - The Wagner women's cross country team competed at the 14
th Annual NJIT Highlander XC Challenge, held at Branch Brook Park on Saturday morning.
On the day, the Seahawks went 3-0, defeating fellow Northeast Conference (NEC) member, Fairleigh Dickinson, 21-34, the host Highlanders, 20-39 and Saint Peter's 15-48.
Individually, the Green & White took the top three spots, led by redshirt senior
Nicole Bell (Branchville, NJ/Sussex County Technical), who took first-place honors by crossing the finish line with a time of 18:42.23.
Sophomore
Sara Carney (Staten Island, NY / St Joseph Hill HS) took second with a finals time of 18:54.58 while newcomer
Vivian Liell (Staten Island, NY / New Dorp) clocked in at 19:03.69 to round out the top three. Sophomore
Alexandra Elder (Staten Island, NY / Tottenville) placed eighth with a time of 19:53.68 while freshman
Jordan Sorilla (La Mesa, CA / Valhalla) and sophomore Oliva Schwartz (West Chester, PA/West Chester Henderson HS) were among the top-15 performers, with Sorilla checking in with a time of 20:18.65 while Schwartz crossed the finish line at 20:43.55.
Sophomore
Allison Santorelli (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) and fellow classmate
Ashley Ducharme (Coventry, RI/Coventry) rounded out the top-20 with Santorelli posting a finals time of 20:44.13 while Ducharme clocked in at 21:59.97.
The Seahawks return to competition on October 20
t when they travel to New Britain, CT for the second time this season as they compete in the CCSU Mini Meet at Stanley Quarter Park, which will also be the site of the 2017 NEC Championships.
