Staten Island, NY - Greg Senat, a three-year member of the
Wagner men's basketball team, who helped the Green & White claim the 2016 Northeast Conference regular season title and the school's first-ever postseason win, before earning a spot at right tackle on the
Seahawks' football team last fall, has been recognized by Marianapolis Prep (CT) as the school's "Alumni Athlete of the Month."
In 2010 and 2011, Senat competed at tight end for the Elmont (NY) High School football team, as well as a defender on the Spartans' lacrosse team, before transferring to Marianapolis Prep, which is located in Thompson, CT, where he focused solely on basketball for two years.
On the hardwood in 2015-16, Senat contributed as a power forward for a Seahawk team that went 23-11 overall, 13-5 in the Northeast Conference (NEC), and went on to earn a 79-75 victory at St. Bonaventure in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) on March 16.
In April, less than a month following the conclusion of the basketball season, he then came out for the Seahawk football team. Originally groomed as a tight end, Senat, who now carries some 280 pounds on his 6-8 frame, quickly found a home at right tackle where he started all 11 games, helping the Seahawks to a 6-5 season in 2016.
After football season, it was time to trade in his cleats for sneakers. After missing the first five games of the 2016-17 season due to his responsibilities with the football team, Senat is shooting 69.2 percent (9-of-13) from the floor (through games of Jan. 12), highlighted by a nine-point effort at Big East member Providence back on December 17.
