Hartford, CT – The Wagner women's soccer team fell to Hartford 4-0 on Thursday night in the second game of a three-game road stint.
The Seahawks were forced into the defensive end early on. After a Hartford penalty shot gave the Hawks the lead,
Katie Viscardi (Hazlet, NJ / Mater Dei Prep) in goal reacted quickly on a cross to knock the ball out of the danger zone and prevent further damage. However, the sophomore between the pipes was left without a chance on Hartford's second and third goal towards the end of the first period.
In the second half, freshman
Autumn Clark (Fort Lauderdale, FL / Pine Crest Prep) had the most promising opportunity for the Green and White, but her shot from close range was turned away, while the hosts added another goal in the process.
Sophomore
Kristen Bischoff (Massapequa, NY / Massapequa) led the team with two shots, one of which was on goal, while Clark and junior
Paige Chladek (Shamong, NJ / Senaca) also had attempts for Wagner throughout the game. Freshman
Ally DeRiggi (East Hanover, NJ / Hanover Park) was the lone Seahawk to play the full 90 minutes.
The Hawks were led by their goalscorers Julia Carr, Caroline Massey, Hayley Nolan, and Caitlin Smallfield.
The Green and White are off for 10 days and will travel to Stony Brook University on September 18 at 1:00 p.m. for their next contest
