Lowell, MA – The Wagner women's soccer team lost a back and forth game 1-0 in double overtime on Sunday night at UMass Lowell. Both teams had scoring opportunities throughout the game, but it was the River Hawks who converted early in the second overtime period.

The game's first chance came on a counter attack, as freshman Autumn Clark (Fort Lauderdale, FL / Pine Crest Prep) took the ball in UMass Lowell territory and fired off a shot from 30 yards away, almost lobbing it over the goalkeeper. Three minutes later, freshman Kaitlyn Ross (Sayville, NY / Sayville) seemed to have an open net, but her attempt from inside the box was turned away by the River Hawks' defense.

UMass Lowell had multiple opportunities in the first half, but junior Jessica Wilm (Shelton, CT / Shelton) in goal reacted quickly after a corner kick to prevent a goal, while a team effort helped the Seahawks clear the ball on the goal line a few minutes later.

To start the second half, the Green and White developed more and more scoring chances. Clark failed to score with a turnaround attempt in front of the net and senior Jessica Mouradian's (Baldwin, NY / Baldwin) attempt from distance was saved. With three minutes remaining, sophomore Kristen Bischoff (Massapequa, NY / Massapequa) could not convert a promising opportunity, after she was set up on a pass into the gap of the defense by senior captain Megan Fritz (Cape Coral, FL / Mariner).

In the first overtime period, Fritz had the only attempt on goal for the Sehahawks, before the River Hawks scored the winning goal two minutes into the second overtime.

Fritz and freshman Maria Nunez (East Greenwich, RI / East Greenwich) led the Green and White with three shots, while Wilm made six saves and prevented Wagner from falling behind earlier. Both teams tied with eight shots on goal.

The Sehawks will travel to Hartford on September 8 for a non-conference game at 6 p.m.
