Staten Island, NY - The Wagner women's tennis team was swept by Hofstra Saturday morning at the Wagner Tennis Courts. The Pride claimed the doubles point and went on to win four singles matches.

Rina Baynes (Johns Creek, GA/Chattahooe) were edged in the No. 3 match, 6-4 by Giulia Leone/Disha Yellayi.
In No. 1 singles action, senior
Avika Sagwal (New Delhi, India/Delhi Public High School [Southeastern Louisiana]) took the first set, 6-1 before dropping the next two, 6-2; 6-3 to Jasmine King.
Junior
Samantha Hodges (Encinitas, CA/San Dieguito Academy) was bested by Hofstra's Michal Kaplan, 6-3; 6-2 in No. 2 while newcomer
Vedika Anand (New Delhi, India/The Shri Ram School) dropped a 6-1; 6-3 decision at No. 3 singles to Sarah Herndon. Baynes closed out the match against Carmen Pestano, falling 6-1; 6-1.Â
No. 5 and No. 6 singles match that featured senior
Madison Pautsch (Costa Mesa, CA/Edison) and Cumpa went unfinished.
The Seahawks hit the road for its next match, a September 22 meeting in West Long Branch, NJ as they square off against Monmouth.Â
