Staten Island, NY –
Two goals by senior captain Sydney McNutt (Hatboro, PA / Hatboro-Horsham) and a dominant defensive performance powered the Wagner women's soccer team to a 5-0 home victory against Saint Peter's University on Thursday night at Hameline Field.

The Seahawks came out firing and outshot their opponents 14-2 in the first half. After a corner kick by sophomore Kim Fetto (Manalapan, NJ / Manalapan) 30 minutes into play, senior Amber Coca (Riverview, FL / Bloomingdale)  got the Green and White on the board with a precise header. It was the first of three goals scored via header in the game, as the Green and White proved to be effective on set pieces and crosses. Ten minutes later McNutt added her first score of the season on a beautiful direct free kick from 30 yards away.

Three minutes into the second period, senior Megan Fritz (Cape Coral, FL / Mariner) took a sharp cross by freshman Ally DeRiggi East Hanover, NJ / Hanover Park) and headed it into the bottom right corner of the net for her second goal of the season. The Seahawks went on to control the ball for most of the second half and added two more goals in the process. McNutt converted a Fetto cross for her second tally of the game 66 minutes into play, and senior defender Jessica Mouradian (Baldwin, NY / Baldwin) added the final touches to the victory with a hard shot from the top of the 18-yard box.

Junior Jessica Wilm (Shelton, CT / Shelton) earned her first shutout and first victory of the season. Her biggest save came in the first half, when she deflected a shot by the Peacocks' Genesis Castrellon to prevent a goal. Overall, the Green and White outshot the visitors 26-8 and had a 12-1 advantage in corner kicks. 14 different Wagner players registered a shot, including a game-high five attempts by freshman Autumn Clark (Fort Lauderdale, FL / Pine Crest Prep).

Wagner returns to Hameline Field on Sunday, August 28, for a 2:00 pm matchup against Rider.
