Emmitsburg, MD  – Scoring was at a premium all afternoon as the Mount St. Mary's men's lacrosse team eked out a 2-1 halftime lead en route to a 7-3 Northeast Conference (NEC) win over Wagner at Waldron Family Stadium this afternoon.
 
With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 6-8 on the season and 1-4 in NEC play while the Mountaineers improve to 6-7 overall and 2-3 in league.
 
The Seahawks received one goal apiece from senior attacker 
Billy Battaglia (Madison, NJ / Madison), redshirt junior attacker 
Patrick McMenamin (Longport, NJ / St. Augustine Prep) and freshman midfielder 
Spencer Kaufman (Merrick, NY / Sanford H. Calhoun), who also added two assists in pacing Wagner with three points. Junior midfielder 
Christian McCormick (Royersford, PA / Spring-Ford) also contributed an assist for the Seahawks.
Spencer Smith led the Mount offensively with two goals while four different Mountaineers notched one goal apiece and goalie Frankie McCarthy made 11 saves as Mount St. Mary's prevailed on Senior Day. For Wagner, freshman goalie 
Matt Sefcik (Towaco, NJ / Morristown Beard School), the reigning NEC Rookie of the Week, came up with 14 saves for the second straight game, which is one shy of his career high.
 
Mount St. Mary's outshot Wagner 43-25, held a 37-23 edge in groundballs while winning 9-of-14 faceoffs.
 
The Seahawks, who were eliminated from next month's NEC Tournament following today's defeat,  return to action on Saturday, April 30 when they host Robert Morris in the season finale at Hameline Field in a rare 10:00 a.m. start on Senior Day.
