Albany led 7-0 at halftime and increased its lead to 12-0 before senior attacker
Kimmy Tumolo (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview) found the scoreboard with 16:40 remaining in the game.
Defensively, Albany held Wagner to just six attempted shots while forcing 14 turnovers. Individually, midfielder Rachel Bowles and
attacker Dakotah Savitcheff led the Great Danes with five and four goals, respectively.
Seahawk first-year head coach
Katie Rowan is a former Albany assistant, having served on head coach John Battaglino's staff in 2011 and 2012. In her two seasons in the Capital City, Rowan helped guide the Great Danes to consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, highlighted by a 2011 campaign that saw Albany claim America East Conference regular-season and conference titles, and an appearance in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship.
With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 1-6 on the season while the Great Danes improve their season mark to 3-2.Wagner is next in action on Saturday, March 26 at Delaware State with opening draw set for 1:00 p.m.
