Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men’s Lacrosse Runs Past Hampton 18-4 For Third Straight Win

Updated Season Statistics

Charlottesville, VA  -
Sophomore attackman Andrew Streilein (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) recorded six points on three goals and three assists to spearhead an offensive onslaught in leading the Wagner men's lacrosse team to its third straight victory, an 18-4 decision over Hampton in a game played at the University of Virginia today.

With the win, the Seahawks improve to 4-3 on the season, matching the program's single-season victory total that was set in 2015. Hampton, in its initial season as Division I member and the first historically black college or university to compete in men's lacrosse at the Division I level, falls to 0-3.

Wagner raced out to a 10-0 lead before the Pirates closed the half with three consecutive scores to make it a 10-3 game at the intermission. The Seahawks then reeled off the first seven goals of the second half en route to the 18-4 win. For the game, 12 different Seahawks scored goals on the afternoon.

Freshman attackman John Norton (Catonsville, MD/Mount Saint Joseph) added five points on two goals and three assists while sophomore attackman Billy Martin (Huntington, NY/Huntington), junior attackman Ryan Zurawski (Medford, NJ / St. Augustine Prep) and freshman midfielder Nicolas Houser (Santa Ana, CA/Santa Margarita Catholic) added two goals each for the Seahawks.

Seven Seahawks added one goal apiece - redshirt junior midfielder William McMenamin (Longport, NJ/St. Augustine Prep), junior midfielder Anthony Labetti (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown), sophomore midfielder Aaron Denesevich (Egg Harbor, NJ/St. Augustine Prep), sophomore midfielder Rob Heffron (Bowie, MD/St. John's College), freshman attackman Kevin Gray Shamong, NJ/Seneca), junior midfielder Christian McCormick (Royersford, PA/Spring-Ford), and freshmen midfielders Andrew Mulholland (Summit, NJ/Summit and Brandon LeBert (Woburn, MA / Brewster Academy).

Fifth-year head coach Matt Poskay, who was coaching his first-ever game on the campus of the school where he was an All-American and two-national champion, used all three of his goalies. Freshman Matt Sefcik (Towaco, NJ/Morristown- Beard School) made his seventh straight game in goal before giving way to junior David Hwang (Happauge, NY/Happauge). Freshman Omar Alhagiko (Staten Island, NY/Curtis), a local product, came on to play the fourth quarter in seeing the first action of his young career. The trio of Seahawk goalies combined to make four save in the contest.

After completing their two-game Spring Break Road trip in the state of Virginia, which began with Tuesday's 7-6 win at VMI, the Seahawks will next meet  UMass Lowell in a 3:00 p.m. start on Tuesday, March 15 at Hameline Field.
