Moon Township, PA – The Wagner women's soccer team fell 1-0 to the Robert Morris University Colonials on Friday afternoon at the North Athletic Complex.
In the seventh minute of the contest, the Colonials went ahead 1-0 on a 25 yard shot off the foot of Kristina Kelly. The Green & White tried to answer back, as
Jessica Mouradian (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) headed the ball on goal, but was turned away by RMU's Makenzie Shearson.
The Seahawks had two more chances later in the stanza. Senior
Megan Fritz (Cape Coral, FL / Mariner),
who recently earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, rocketed a shot on goal that was stopped by Shearson 27 minutes into the contest. Wagner's next chance came with a minute to go before the intermission, as sophomore
Kristen Bischoff (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) attempt went wide of the goal.
The second half saw more opportunities for the visitors to even the contest. Freshman forward
Autumn Clark (Fort Lauderdale, FL/Pine Crest Prep) had two chances, one in the 63rd minute and again in the 75th minute, but was denied. Senior captain
Sydney McNutt (Hatboro, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) had a chance in the 80th minute, as her header chance sailed wide of the goal.
The final scoring chance came from freshman
Rorie St. Lawrence ( Staten Island, NY / Leon Goldstein), as she gained possession after a corner kick, but launched the shot high over the net, as the Colonials edged Wagner for the victory.
Clark and Mouradian led the Seahawks with two shots on goal, while Fritz contributed one attempt on net. Senior
Katelyn Murphy fell to 1-1-0 on the season despite making five saves in the contest.
Wagner will close out the regular season on Sunday at Saint Francis U in Loretto, PA. Kickoff is set for noon.
