Fairfield, CT – The Wager women's cross country team placed second at the Fr. Victor F. Leeber, S.J. Invitational with 71 points.
Fellow Northeast Conference (NEC) member, Sacred Heart, took home the title with 15 points. Rounding out the performances were host Fairfield (75 points), LIU Brooklyn (91 points), the University of Bridgeport (129 points) and Concordia (178 points). Sacred Heart's Shannon Hickey claimed the individual title with a time of 19:18.99 on the 5K course.
The Seahawks were led by junior
Nicole Bell (Branchville, NJ/ Sussex County Technical) who placed sixth with a time of 19:45.06.
Seniors
Danielle Iacampo (Staten Island, NY/ St. John Villa) and
Laynee Viniotis (Bellevue, WA/ Sammamish) had strong showings as they placed 10th and 11th respectively. Iacampo crossed slightly before with a mark of 20:22.94 with Viniotis recording a time of 20:25.51.
Junior
Brietta Wilson (Neptune. NJ/ Neptune) claimed 21st with a time of 22:50.55 as sophomore
Maria Scalici (Staten Island, NY/ Susan E. Wagner) finished 23rd and was just off wilson's pace with a mark of 23:30.06.
Junior
Florina Jajaga (Staten Island, NY/ Port Richmond/ Holy Family) placed 33rd with a time of 26:29.39.
The Seahawks next compete at the Metropolitan Championships on October 9th.
