New Rochelle, NY – The Wagner women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 non-conference decision to MAAC member Iona College on Friday afternoon.
With the loss, Wagner falls to 1-3 on the season, while the Gaels record their first win of the 2015 season.
The first goal of the match came in the 17th minute off of a long a pass through the defense by Iona's Britanny Murray to Brianna Hernandez who found the back of the net. Iona's Julia Campagna then caught a pass and was able to get past Wagner goalkeeper
Kaitlin Flaherty (Southfield, MI / Wylie Groves) on the low left side of the goal to make it 2-0 in the 33rd minute of the match.
The Gaels secured the 3-0 victory in the 68th minute when Brianna Hernandez netted her second goal of the contest.
During the match, 21 Seahawks saw action, including goalkeepers Flaherty and
Katelyn Murphy (Metuchen, NJ / Metuchen) who each had two saves a piece.
Wagner returns to action for the 2015 home opener at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 30, against Columbia.
