Jersey City, NJ –
The Wagner women's soccer team picked up its first win of the 2015 campaign in a 4-2 victory over Saint Peter's Wednesday afternoon.

Leading the way for the Seahawks was junior midfielder Megan Fritz (Cape Coral, FL / Mariner) who scored the first two goals for the Seahawks in the 5th and 55th minutes. Senior Samantha Jensen (Ocean Gate, NJ / Central Regional) was credited with the assist on the first goal and freshman Kim Fetto (Manalapan, NJ / Manalapan) with the assist for the second goal.

"We are happy with the win and putting up four goal as we had been inconsistent and out of rhythm on offense." Head Coach Mike Minielli commented. "We gave up the two goals and that is something we need to clean up. At this point we are trying to get healthy and find some consistency but overall today was positive with the win."

The Seahawks wasted no time finding the net, scoring the lone goal in the first half of the contest. Fritz ignited the Seahawks in the beginning of the second half scoring for the second time in the game. After taking a 2-0 lead, the Saint Peter's Brooke Tartis was credited a penalty kick and put it past sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Wilm (Shelton, CT / Shelton) to cut the Seahawk lead to 2-1.

Wagner responded immediately when senior Victoria Roda (Staten Island, NY / Petrides) had a corner kick that she placed up high in front of the goal that 5'11 freshman Peyton Beck (St. Louis, MO / Webster Groves) headed to the back of the net. The header goal in the 68th minute marked Beck's first collegiate goal.

Freshman Maria D'Amico (Freehold, NJ / Freehold Township) secured the Wagner win with her first collegiate goal in the 75th minute off of an assist from junior Jessica Mouradian (Baldwin, NY / Baldwin) to make it 4-1.

Saint Peter's scored 30 seconds later to make it 4-2 but solid Seahawk defense kept the score to this for the remainder of the match.

Wilm played the entire 90 minutes and posted six saves along with the Peacocks goalkeeper Taylor McLean.

During the match, 18 Seahawks saw action on the field and had a season high 15 shots.

The Seahawks travel to New Rochelle, NY for a match at 4:00 pm against Iona on Friday, August 28.
