Women's Tennis Season Ends In Quarterfinal Round of the 2015 Northeast Conference Championships

West Windsor, NJ – The #7 seeded Wagner women's tennis team was defeated by the #2 seed Bryant University, 4-0, in the opening round of the 2015 Northeast Conference Championship, contested at the Mercer County Tennis Center in West Windsor, NJ.

With the loss, the Seahawks' season came to end as they finished the season with an 8-7 overall record. The Bulldogs will now take on #3 Saint Francis U on Saturday after the Red Flash advanced over #6 seed, Mount St. Mary's, 4-1.

Junior Marina Rull Valvieso (Barcelona, Spain/IES Antony Cumella [Tarleton State]) was defeated in #1 singles by Bryant's Ryan Brown, 6-2; 6-3.  Rull Valvieso concluded her first season as a Seahawk with a team-high nine victories.

The Bulldogs were able to record straight set victories in #2, #3 and #5 singles action to advance to Saturday's semi-finals. 

Senior Rachel Jurgielewicz (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown East) concluded her Seahawk career as her match at #4 singles went unfinished.  For her four-year career, the Downingtown, PA native notched twenty victories, 14 of those coming the last two seasons on Grymes Hill.

Wagner will graduate two seniors, Jurgielewicz and Kari Rezac (Wichita, KS/Maize) this May.
