2015 Northeast Conference Tournament Headquarters
Staten Island, NY – The Wagner women's tennis team, under first-year head coach
Adrienn Hidvegi, head into this weekend's 2015 Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship as the #7 seed and will face the #2 seed, Bryant University, at the Mercer County Tennis Center in West Windsor, NJ.
"I'm proud of our players," said Hidvegi.  "We are focused and ready for competition at the NEC Tournament."
Leading the way for the Seahawks into this weekend's tournament is junior
Marina Rull Valvieso (Barcelona, Spain/IES Antony Cumella [Tarleton State]), who finished the year with a 9-3 overall record while posting a 5-2 mark out of the #1 position.
Freshman
Samantha Hodges (Encinitas, CA/San Dieguito Academy) finished the year at .500 out of the #2 position while going 4-1 over her last five matches. Sophomore
Madison Pautsch (Costa Mesa, CA/Edison) earned six victories this season while senior
Rachel Jurgielewicz (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown East) secured seven wins, the second-most on the team.
Wagner will look to continue its hot performance in doubles play as Rull Valvieso and Pautsch enter the NEC tournament with a 9-4 record. Hodges and Jurgielewicz have formed a solid duo as they went 6-2 primarily out of the #3 spot.
