The Seahawks (6-5) took two of three doubles matches as junior
Marina Rull Valvieso (Barcelona, Spain/IES Antony Cumella [Tarleton State]) and sophomore
Madison Pautsch (Costa Mesa, CA/Edison) defeated Adriana Armendariz and Ashley Sandler, 8-6. With the win, Rull Valvieso and Pautsch improve to 7-3 in #1 Doubles competition this season.
Freshman
Samantha Hodges (Encinitas, CA/San Dieguito Academy) and senior
Rachel Jurgielewicz (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown East) cruised to an 8-1 victory in #3 doubles over Chioma Gabriel and Sarah Turner for their fourth victory of the year.
The Seahawks posted back-to-back victories in #1 and #2 singles action as Rull Valvieso defeated Armendariz, 6-1; 6-3, for her eighth win of the season while improving to 4-2 out of the #1 position.
After dropping the first set, Hodges was able to take the next two sets, 6-1; 6-1 as she evened her record to 3-3 out of the #2 position.
Monmouth was victorious in #3, #4 and #5 but the Green & White locked up the overall victory as freshman
Carolyn Gibson (Winderemere, FL/IMG Academy) delivered a 6-3; 6-2 victory over Monmouth's Robyn Belen for the Seahawks' sixth victory of the 2014-2015 season.
Wagner is back in action on Thursday, April 2, as the Seahawks welcome Northeast Conference (NEC) rival, LIU Brooklyn, to Staten Island.
