Fairfield, CT – Despite yet another dazzling offensive performance form sophomore guard Jasmine Nwajei (Rockaway Park, NY/Murry Bergtraum), the nation's No. 2 scorer, who tossed in 36 points and grabbed nine rebounds, the Wagner women's basketball team dropped a 73-60 decision at Sacred Heart.

The Pioneers were led by versatile 6-0 redshirt-junior wing Hannah Kimmel, who notched her eighth double-double of the season with 27 points and 17 rebounds.

With the win, the Pioneers improve to 7-4 in the Northeast Conference (NEC) and 12-9 overall while the Seahawks fall to 3-9 in league play and 5-18 on the season.

Nwajei was the lone Seahawk in double figures tonight as junior guard Jordyn Peck (Shaker Heights, OH/Shaker Heights) was Wagner's second-leading scorer with eight points on a tough 3-of-13 shooting night.

The 5-8 Nwajei is now averaging 24.8 points per game, after entering tonight's play at 24.3. The only Division I player in the nation averaging more than Nwajei is Ohio State freshman guard Kelsey Mitchell who checks in at 25.5 per game. In totaling 36 points tonight, Nwajei becomes the first Seahawk in program history to hit the 30-point mark in three consecutive games.

In the two games leading up to tonight, Nwajei had 35 against these same Pioneers on February 3 at the Spiro Sports Center, which was followed by a 33-point outing in Saturday's (February 7) 63-60 come-from-behind home win over St. Francis Brooklyn. In this contest, Nwajei scored 20 of Wagner's final 23 points as the Seahawks overcame a 10-point deficit down the stretch.

In this three-game stretch, Nwajei has totaled 104 points, which computes to a staggering 34.7 average. Over last eight games, the New York City product is averaging 29.8 points per game.

In addition to averaging 24.8 per game overall, Nwajei's league-leading average in NEC games only is now up to 26.3 per game.

Wagner is next in action on Saturday, February 14 when the Green & White host local NEC rival Fairleigh Dickinson in a 1:00 p.m. tip in the first game of a doubleheader with the Seahawk and Knight men's teams squaring off in the second game at 4:00 p.m.
