Staten Island, NY-  After splitting the first two games of its three-game homestand, the Wagner College men's basketball team welcomes local rival LIU Brooklyn to the Spiro Sports Center in a 4:00 p.m. tip off in a game that can be seen on ESPN 3.

LAST TIME OUT FOR WAGNER…
  • Robert Morris held off Wagner for a 77-73 Northeast Conference (NEC) win in front of a loud crowd of 2,055 and a national television audience watching on CBS Sports Network
  • The Seahawks were led by a game-high 21 points from 6-0 senior guard Marcus Burton (Charlotte, NC/David W. Butler), which came on the heels of his career-high 38-point outing in Monday night's scintillating 85-83 double-overtime victory over defending NEC champion Mount St. Mary's.
  • For the evening, Burton was 8-of-18 from the floor in 37 minutes of play.
  • Freshman guard Corey Henson (Upper Marlboro, MD/DeMatha Catholic) equaled his career-high with 16 points, highlighted by a 4-of-5 shooting night three-point range, while fellow freshman guard Romone Saunders (Temple Hills, MD / Potomac / Mt. Zion Prep) tossed in 12 points, to go with four assists and four rebounds. Saunders has now hit for double figures in three of his last four games, while yet another freshman guard, JoJo Cooper (Wilmington, DE/Concord), dished out a game-high seven assists.
 
SCOUTING THE BLACKBIRDS...
  • The Blackbirds are 5-9 this season and 1-2 in Northeast Conference (NEC) play after picking up their first conference victory in a hard-fought, double overtime aff air at home against Sacred Heart on Thursday, defeating the Pioneers 82-81.
  • Five LIU Brooklyn players scored in double figures, led by freshman Elvar Fridriksson, who finished with 18 points and seven assists.
  • Trevin Woods posted his first career double-double (13 points and 12 rebounds) while Nura Zanna closed with 13 points and eight rebounds.
  • Gerrell Martin is the team's leading scorer at 11.3 points per game while Fridriksson has poured in 10.2 points and averaging 4.3 assists per contest.
 
ALL-TIME AGAINST LIU BROOKLYN...
  • The Blackbirds hold a 55-42 record against the Seahawks all-time
  • Wagner is 4-1 in their five meetings against the Brooklyn-based school
  • This series dates back to 1928-29. 
  • The last time Wagner was defeated by LIU Brooklyn at Spiro Sports Center came in the Northeast Conference Tournament semifinals, two years ago, as the Blackbirds cruised to a 94-82 victory.
