Robert Morris University Colonials vs. Wagner College Seahawks Highlights (CBS Sports Network)

Halftime Interview with Wagner Athletic Director Walt Hamline (with CBS' Paul Dottino)

Staten Island, NY – Lucky Jones went 6-of-6 from the free throw line in the final 31 seconds of the game to tie teammate Rodney Pryor for game-high honors with 18 points, in addition to pulling down 10 rebounds, as Robert Morris held off Wagner for a 77-73 Northeast Conference (NEC) win in front of a loud crowd of 2,055 and a national television audience watching on CBS Sports Network.

The Seahawks, who fall to 3-11 on the season, 1-2 in NEC play, were led by a game-high 21 points from 6-0 senior guard Marcus Burton (Charlotte, NC/David W. Butler), which came on the heels of his career-high 38-point outing in Monday night's scintillating 85-83 double-overtime victory over defending NEC champion Mount St. Mary's. With the win, the Colonials move to 6-9 overall and 2-1 in league play. For the evening, Burton was 8-of-18 from the floor in 37 minutes of play.

Over his last two games, the fourth-year guard is averaging 29.5 points per game while connecting on 50.0 percent overall from the field, as well as from three-point range, while converting 83.3 percent from the free-throw line, to go along with 4.5 rebounds.

Freshman guard Corey Henson (Upper Marlboro, MD/DeMatha Catholic) equaled his career-high with 16 points, highlighted by a 4-of-5 shooting night three-point range, while fellow freshman guard Romone Saunders (Temple Hills, MD / Potomac / Mt. Zion Prep) tossed in 12 points, to go with four assists and four rebounds. Saunders has now hit for double figures in three of his last four games, while yet another freshman guard, JoJo Cooper (Wilmington, DE/Concord), dished out a game-high seven assists, the most he has recorded since recording eight helpers in the overtime defeat at Maine on December 2.

Jones, a member of the 2014 NEC Preseason Team, was held in check by the tenacious Seahawk defense, as he hit just two of his nine field goal attempts, but was 12-of-14 from the charity stripe en route to posting his eighth career double-double.

Reigning NEC Co-Rookie of the Week, Marcquise Reed, was the third RMU player to reach double digits, finishing with 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the floor, while swiping four steals in 28 minutes of play.

Robert Morris kicked off the contest on a 13-3 run over the first 5:42 of the game while holding the Seahawks to a 1-of-8 start, with the lone field goal coming on a Burton three-pointer. The Colonials shot 5-of-7 from the floor during this opening stretch as Reed, Tate and Pryor, each of which tallying three early points.

Wagner responded with a quick 6-0 spurt in a one-minute span, forcing two Colonials turnovers, while closing the gap to just 13-9 at the 13:17 mark after Burton hit one-of-two free throws.

Behind a 10-3 output from the visitors, Robert Morris took its largest lead of the game, 23-12, with the lone Wagner bucket during this segment coming on a three-point jumper by freshman Japhet Kadji (Douala, Cameroon/IMG Academy). The Seahawks, determined to make a comeback, closed out the first half by outscoring the Colonials, 24-20, with Saunders serving as the catalyst, with six points during this stretch.

Wagner steadily fought its way back, managing to forge a 62-62 tie with 6:34 to go after sophomore forward Greg Senat (Elmont, NY/Elmont) converted a put-back inside. During the next 6:27, the Seahawks continued to hang tough, and trailed by a single possession on five occasions.

Both teams struggled offensively down the stretch, shooting a combined 3-of-9, but RMU held a large advantage from the free throw line, as the  seeing a huge spike of chances from the free-throw line, as Wagner went 6-of-9 from the line in the waning minutes while the Colonials converted 13-of-16 in holding on for the four-point victory.

For the contest, Wagner shot 40.4 percent from the field (23-of-57) while connecting on a hot 52.6 percent from beyond the arc(10-of-19) while the Colonials shot 46.8 percent from the floor.

The Seahawks are next in action on Saturday, January 12 at 4:00 p.m. when the Green & White host LIU Brooklyn in a game that will be streamed live on ESPN 3. The Seahawk-Blackbird contest will be the second game of a doubleheader as the Wagner and LIU Brooklyn women's teams will meet at 1:00 p.m. in a game that will also be seen on ESPN 3.
