Riverdale, NY -
The Wagner Women's Soccer teams opened up the season tonight by dropping a 2-0 decision at Manhattan.

The Seahawks were unable to get their offense going tonight against a strong Jasper defense. The Green & White had a few opportunities towards the beginning and end of the game, but never saw any of those chances come to fruition.

Manhattan opened up the scoring when Colleen Kavanagh drilled a goal from about 35 yards out in the 35th minute. After pushing the ball and getting through the defense during the beginning stages of the second, the Jaspers were able to score again in the 70th minute when Aislinn McIlvenny found the back of the net.

During the match, 19 Seahawks saw action. Starting goalkeeper Katie Marcy (Bellmore, NY/John F. Kennedy) made one save.

The Jaspers outshot the Seahawks by a 7-6 count.

Wagner returns to action this Sunday for their home opener against the Iona Gaels at 1:00 pm.
