Wagner Defeats George Washington, 20-9

- In the highest scoring game since a 24-7 win over VMI last season, the Wagner Water Polo team picked up their second win of the year over George Washington, 20-9.

The Seahawks were led by sophomore Jess Lundgren (Queensland, Australia / Mountain Creek) who finished the game with four goals, and a career-high seven assists. The first two assists of the game by Lundgren were to junior Jessica Burdge (Stockton, CA / St. Mary's), who led the team with five goals.

Wagner led 4-1 after the first quarter, when Burdge found the net twice, and sophomores Megan Rodriguez (Danville, CA / San Ramon Valley) and Lily Doerfler (Annapolis, MD / Broadneck) scored once each. Lundgren kept it going in the second quarter, scoring one of the five Wagner goals in the period, and adding two assists as the Seahawks led 9-3 at the half.

Both teams were able to find the net often in the third quarter, as the Green and White added eight goals in the frame, while the Colonials scored five, making it 17-8 at the end of the third. Lundgren put two in the back of the net in the fourth quarter and senior Sidney Hoshko (Coronado, CA / Coronado) added one of her two goals to make the final 20-9.

Rodriguez matched Lundgren's total with four goals, while Hoshko and senior Stacy McGregor (Sinking Spring, PA / Wilson) added two each. Doerfler, Amanda Sutherland (Denton, TX / Denton Ryan), and Rachel Burns rounded out the scoring with one each. Emily Riddle (Edmonton, Alberta / Dr. E.P. Scarlett) had eight saves in the victory.

The Seahakws (2-4) will play Harvard at 9:00 am in the final game of the Princeton Invitational.
