Staten Island, NY  – After a brief Thanksgiving break, the Wagner College men's basketball team is back in action on Saturday afternoon as they welcome the University of Pennsylvania Quakers to the Spiro Sports Center in a contest that eill tip off at 4:00 p.m.

This afternoon's contest marks just the fourth all-time meeting between the schools, with the Seahawks holding a 3-0 advantage in the head-to-head series.

  • This afternoon's matchup is just the fourth all-time meeting between the schools, with Wagner leading the head-to-head series, 3-0
  • This series dates back to the 2011-12 season when the Seahawks defeated the Quakers, 71-65, in overtime at the historic Palestra under then-head coach Dan Hurley
  • The Seahawks have won by an average margin of six points in the three meetings

  • Wagner traveled to Columbia in the second game of the season and was edged, 70-56, at Levien Gymnasium
LAST TIME OUT FOR WAGNER @ HOFSTRA 11/23/14
  • Freshman guard and Long Island native Aaren Edmead (Deer Park, NY/Deer Park) was one of three Seahawks to finish in double figures but it wasn't enough as Wagner fell to local rival, Hofstra, 93-71, on Sunday afternoon at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex.
  • The 5-10 Edmead, who was named the 2014 Long Island Player of the Year by Newsday and LongIslandBasketball.Com, led the Seahawks in scoring with a career-best 15 points on 5-of-12 shooting from the field off the bench
  • Senior guard Marcus Burton (Charlotte, NC/David W. Butler) tallied 13 points, with 10 coming in the first half of action while junior forward Stedman Allen (Bronx, NY/Labette CC (KS) was the third Seahawk in double-digits, with 10 points, which came on 5-of-7 shooting in 25 minutes of play. 
SCOUTING THE PENN QUAKERS
  • Penn was picked to finish seventh in the Ivy League's Preseason Media Poll
  • The Quakers are looking for their first win of the season
  • In a Philadelphia Big 5 matchup, Penn was defeated by Temple, 76-76, on Tuesday evening
  • Tony Hicks led Penn with 17 points, 15 of them coming in the first half.

  • The Seahawks will travel to America East member, Maine, on December 2 as the Black Bears and the Seahawks tip off at 7:00 pm.
